*N Sync: The Sky's The Limit
by Marisa Laudadio and Ellen Liberman

With a new album, an edgier pop sound and an oh-so-hot new look, *NSYNC are definitely on a roll. Not only did we sit down for some revealing one-on-ones with Lance, Chris, JC, Justin and Joey--we also invited psychic-to-the-stars Mary Kara along to give us the real scoop on the boys.

First we asked the guys to tell us about themselves and predict their own futures. Then we asked Mary to gaze into her crystal ball. We fit all the info together so you could see how right-on she was (or wasn't). Most of the guys were shocked by her accuracy--and then there was Chris, who just didn't buy it. So turn the pages for some startling revelations: Who's getting married sooner than he thinks? Who's headed for stardom on the silver screen? Plus, find out who's been cheated on--and who's a cheater, not to mention which guy's giving Martha Stewart a run for her money.

Justin Timberlake
Birth Date/ January 31, 1981
Sign/ Aquarius
Psychic Status/ "I had my palm read once before. She was pretty good. I was amazed."
Astro Attitude Before/ "I think some people can tap into another part of their brain--the mind is more powerful than anything in the world."
And After/ "It was very cool. I'm shocked at some of the things she said."

Mary: You're an Aquarius with a Sagittarius moon, which makes you a good musician. You like a sense of humor. You like a girl to have fun. You don't like uptight people.

Justin: I just got done saying that [to someone else]! Confidence is sexy to me. I don't like insecurity and jealousy. Sometimes with teenage romance, people try to get to know the other person before they get to know themselves. You start dating someone and start acting like someone you're not. I want a girl who knows herself and is comfortable with herself.

Mary: Once you trust somebody, you trust them. There's no point in being in a relationship if you have to second-guess each other. And you're honest. You're someone who would say, "We're just dating. I'm not interested in a long-term relationship."

Justin: I'm totally honest with the person from the get-go. I don't play games at all. I am really a one-woman type man. This is the first time in my life that I've played the field...I've been cheated on numerous times by ex-girlfriends so it's hard for me to trust somebody. But when I fall for someone, I fall hard. I'm a hopeless romantic.

Mary: Did you just get out of a relationship? A major one, not casual.

Justin: Yeah, a big one. It was like a year ago.

Mary: In fact, you're going to be talking to her soon. Was there a lot of fighting toward the end?

Justin: It was ugly. She cheated on me but it's all good now.

Mary: There's something that needs to be finished up that hasn't been. She may want to see you again and get back together, but I think you're past it.

Justin: I've dealt with it. I'm seeing other people now and I'm happy where I'm at.

Mary: As for family, I see a bigger family with you. Not right away though. It's going to be bachelorhood for a while.

Justin: I think when I meet that certain person, I'll know it. I'd make a good daddy, but not anytime soon! I'm not even thinking about that right now. I've got lots of things to do first.

Mary: I see you worrying. You're not much of a sleeper. You probably sleep six hours a night.

Justin: If that. I don't sleep a lot.

Mary: I think you're a little apprehensive about the upcoming year, but you shouldn't be. It's not as bad as you might think.

Justin: I just had a conversation with one of my best friends about how the past couple of days, I've been feeling weird about how everything is going to go this year. It's gonna be a big step for us and our career. [No Strings Attached] is our third album. We've done some different things--we just hope they work.

Mary: Go with it. It's going to be fine.

Joey Fatone
Birth Date/ January 28, 1977
Sign/ Aquarius
Psychic Status/ "This is my first time."
Astro Attitude Before/ "I believe in psychics a little bit. Some of it's true."
And After/ "Some of the predictions were dead-on and others were a little bit off. Sure, I would do it again."

Mary: You have a ton of Aquarius in your chart, and I mean a ton. Aquarius is the screwball of the zodiac. You're kind of off-the-wall. You have a good time with big groups of people. You're not so much a one-on-one person if you don't have to be. You're probably the life of the party.

Joey: Oh, yeah, I can be. People say I'm outgoing, always joking around, saying what's on my mind.

Mary: You like women who are very outrageous, seductive, not afraid to do or wear certain things.

Joey: I like a girl who can hang out in sweats and sneakers and look good like that. As long as she's comfortable, that's cool. But then if we're going out at night, I want a girl who can dress up and look sexy.

Mary: You like a very aggressive approach.

Joey: Not necessarily. People say they see me with that kind of girl and I like that sometimes, but I'm not very romantic, so what I really want is a girl to help me out and teach me to be romantic. Right now I'm not in a steady relationship so I couldn't tell you if I'm a good boyfriend.

Mary: I can tell that a girl you're with wouldn't have to worry about feeling safe. You don't stray off to pay attention to other people. But you're also not the kind of guy who will open a door for a girl all the time.

Joey: You're right on that one. Some girls think they can change me, but they can't. What you see is what you get. It's hard for me to keep promises. I'm not a one-woman kind of guy right now. You gotta keep your options open.

Mary: I wish I could say you're going to have a stable marriage, but never mind. I'm not going to say it.

Joey: We'll talk later. How many kids will I have?

Mary: I don't see a lot. One, a boy.

Joey: I would want two or three at the most.

Mary: As for career, it seems like acting is your first love before music. This is what you'll be doing in the next 10 to 15 years. You'll do whatever it takes to achieve your goals.

Joey: First I'd want to do things with the five of us, but I do hope to do other things, like acting: action, comedy, drama.... In high school, I did musical theater, dramatic plays. Shakespearean plays and stuff like that. I'd love to try a little bit of everything. The more difficult the character, the better.

Lance Bass
Birth Date/ May 7, 1979
Sign/ Taurus
Psychic Status/ "I've never done this before, but I've always wanted to."
Astro Attitude Before/ "I don't really believe in psychics, but I think it's fun. I love reading my horoscope and seeing if it comes true."
And After/ "Everything was 100 percent right-o. I wanna do it again."

Mary: What you really look for in a woman is someone who is down-to-earth, who can appreciate nature and the basic things in life. You don't like the glittery type of woman, the Hollywood starseeker. Not too materialistic either. You're not a materialistic person.

Lance: I like an innocent type of girl. She has to be sweet, not outspoken. No one who's crazy or a loudmouth. Someone who can baby me. I don't like egotistical girls. I see myself getting married when I'm older, maybe in my late 20s. I'd probably be married in my early 20s if I wasn't in *NSYNC--I am from the South, you know.

Mary: Marriage for you will be within the next five years, which is relatively soon. Whoever marries you is going to be a very lucky person because you're a lifer. You won't go through a lot of marriages, because you won't give up your heart easily. One of the tarot cards shows a birth, so children will come right away--two boys.

Lance: That's what I've always wanted! I always said that I would never have more than two. And I do want to have them right away. I've always liked interesting names, like Xander. I like that for a boy.

Mary: I can even see you living on a ranch at some point in your life. You can appreciate a lifestyle with horses and hiking.

Lance: I've always wanted to live on a ranch and I love horses. I ride whenever I get a chance.

Mary: I'm seeing home decorating as a new hobby. Do you have a new home?

Lance: I just bought a house.

Mary: Well, you're going to be very busy with that. I see a lot of red.

Lance: In my new house every room has a different theme. One is a Dr. Seuss room and everything is very red and blue! Do you see us doing a movie this year?

Mary: For one of the members I was getting that--for Joey. He's really the breakout actor of the group. Anything could happen, of course.

Lance: We've been talking to Tom Hanks for a year about doing a movie. It's going to be us five as the main characters and it's not going to have anything to do with *NSYNC.

Mary: As far as *NSYNC goes, you're already a big band, but this year is going to be the pinnacle of your career. You're going to get more credibility. And I see a new twist and a new direction, which is definitely the right direction. Your fans are going to sense more of a true personality from every individual in the band and they're going to love that.

Lance: This year's gonna kick our butts! It's gonna be a huge year for *NSYNC.

JC Chasez
Birth Date/ August 8, 1976
Sign/ Leo
Psychic Status/ "I had my palm read on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles. I didn't expect the woman to know some of the stuff that she knew. On the way out, I noticed she had six toes on each foot. It was so weird."
Astro Attitude Before/ "I believe there are some powers that people can't understand. I read my horoscope--I just got a great horoscope book, actually. It's really scary how insightful it is."
And After/ "I'd definitely do it again. In a weird way I definitely believe there are some people who can reach out to where other people can't, like right here [pointing to Mary]. They have a gift."

Mary: I see a solo career for you at some point. It doesn't mean you're leaving *NSYNC. It's in addition to what you're doing already, so that's not a bad thing.

JC: I probably wouldn't go solo, but I've started writing for other artists. [JC wrote a couple of songs on Wild Orchid's upcoming CD.]

Mary: Are you selling a home or moving? You have some situation where you don't know what to do.

JC: I'm temporarily homeless. I got kicked out of my old place. I'm actually living with two friends who have an extra bedroom.

Mary: That's got to be settled. Even though you're on the road, you need a home base. I don't know why that's taking so long.

JC: I'm picky. I don't like new houses. I like old ones with character. I want a house where I walk in and the floors creak a little bit. A place that actually tells a story.

Mary: Move to San Francisco.

JC: I was just telling my friend the other day that she should move to San Francisco! It's a great city....

Mary: As for your love life, you like being single. You like outgoing, flamboyant girls with a sense of humor.

JC: I like the sophisticated mama!

Mary: You have a thing for hair--nice, long, flowing...

JC: I'm not going to agree with everything you say! I don't really notice if there's a lot of hair. I don't know if I like long, short or any at all. I know that I prefer dark hair to light hair, though. And I love exotic-looking girls--anyone who isn't afraid to be different.

Mary: What don't you like? Someone who is sedentary, too homey, not active. You want someone who can mentally challenge you and get you to rise to the occasion.

JC: I find someone who can stand on her own very attractive. I like attention, but not someone who's clingy, like a sweater, or who depends on me for everything. I want a girl who's career- and goal-oriented. I want her to teach me something. The most amazing quote I ever heard was from this six-year-old boy from Zimbabwe who was on Nickelodeon. He said, "I need a woman who is strict and smart because otherwise, I would spoil myself." It blew my mind.

Mary: I don't see you settling down for a while--not for seven or eight years. You're a high-energy person and a relationship would weigh you down.

JC: I'm dating somebody now, but it's not like we're gonna get married. I don't put a timeline on these things. I just take it as it comes. I'm one of those freaks who believes that maybe someday when I meet the one, I'll know she's the one.

Mary: In 10 years, you'll have a strong woman running your life. She'll know what she wants and what you want. You're going to love that!

Chris Kirkpatrick
Birth Date/ October 17, 1971
Sign/ Libra
Psychic Status/ Never done it.
Astro Attitude Before/ "I don't believe in that stuff. I think psychics are fake. I'll read my horoscope for a joke, but I don't take it seriously."
And After/ "I still don't believe in it. Maybe I'd do it again, but I don't know if I'd pay for it."

Mary: I see you in a live-in relationship. I can't see a stable marriage right now--not for another eight or nine years. And in that case, it might be for business reasons.

Chris: That's good for me. I like that. But don't tell that to my girlfriend! I've never dated anyone for longer than two months until her. We've been together for about a year and a half.

Mary: The empress card [which symbolizes fertility] comes up loud and clear. You'll have a boy and a girl. It's going to be sooner than you would have liked. I'm not saying this year, I'm not saying next year. It'll just be a little untimely.

Chris: I'm not a family person. I can be a one-woman guy, but marriage scares me. It's permanent.

Mary: That's why this is going to be unexpected. But it's going to do you good, even though independence is a key word for you and you wouldn't want someone to weigh you down.

Chris: I like free spirits. People that can have fun doing whatever. They don't need money or Disney World to have fun--it's really about having a good time with what you've got. I don't like it when girls come with demands. That's baloney!

Mary: I see you having a need to create something tangible that you can look at and feel.

Chris: Music? My house?

Mary: Is your house medieval-looking? I see a lot of wrought iron. It's like a happy dungeon, a castle with stones.

Chris: Yeah, the doors on the front are big and wooden with metal bars. The rest if the house is really modern. I had it built. It's rad. There's a pool in the middle of the house with a waterfall and a Jacuzzi. I spent a lot of money on the pool because it's the focal point of the house.

Mary: You won't end up living in California. You're not a beach person.

Chris: Hmmm...I'm a surfer.

Mary: Is that right? I'm not getting you at the beach at all. As for *NSYNC, this is the first level of your career. I can see you working with other artists when you're in your 40s. Coordinating or producing, maybe promoting them.

Chris: Right now I'm working with a singer/guitarist. Ron Irazarry, who's a good friend of mine.

Mary: That's really where you excel and where you're happiest.

Chris: It's about getting the talent out there. The challenge of helping people is cool, but I do it mostly because people deserve it. Somebody gave us a break, so it's almost like we owe it to people. I do believe in karma. It's all about if you're good to others, they'll be good to you.
